What happens if my claim is denied?

If a claim is denied, FDL will send a written notice to you and the U.T. System outlining the reason for the denial, the policy provision on which the denial is based, an explanation of information which may be needed to process the claim, if any, and steps you must follow to have the claim reviewed again if you disagree with the denial.

How do I file an appeal if my claim is denied?

If you wish to appeal denial of your claim, you must submit a written request to FDL along with any additional information in support of your claim. Your appeal must be received by FDL within 60 days following the date of the initial decision letter.

How long will it take to make a decision regarding my appeal?

FDL has 60 days to re-evaluate your claim. If additional information is required the appeal decision may be extended to 120 days.
